Among the handful of controversies that swirled around "Selma," was the depiction of President Lyndon B. Johnson. In the Ava DuVernay film, the former President isn’t depicted as being the most supportive figure of the civil rights movement, though some suggested that Johnson was far more integral behind-the-scenes in working with Martin Luther King Jr. Now a new movie is brewing that will once again put Johnson on the big screen.

Showbiz 411 reports that Rob Reiner is finally mounting his long developing biopic about Lyndon B. Johnson with Woody Harrelson in the lead role. The director has been kicking the project around for years, and at one time was said to be using Robert Caro‘s biography "Means Of Ascent" as source material. But this project comes from the pen of Joey Hartstone, whose screenplay "LBJ" made the 2014 Black List. Here’s the logline:
Lyndon Johnson goes from powerful Senate Majority Leader, powerless Vice President to President of the United States following the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
Reiner is apparently now casting players for Robert Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey, Ted Sorenson, and Jackie Kennedy, though "LBJ" has some competition with HBO mounting "All The Way" with Bryan Cranston as the President, in the adaptation of the hit play. So, we’ll see if this actually comes to fruition, but after a series of forgettable flicks, it would be nice for Reiner to get his mojo back.
