15 Films To See In June: ‘Kinds Of Kindness,’ ‘A Quiet Place: Day One,’ ‘Inside Out 2’ & More

Inside Out 2
Pixar continues to love its sequels with “Inside Out 2.” Emotions of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust all return, having been running the operations of their human successfully. The addition of a new emotion, Anxiety, however, disrupts the flow. Kelsey Mann directs the film with Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan, all reprising their roles from the first film. Tony Hale and Liza Lapira join, replacing Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling, along with Maya Hawke as the new emotion, Anxiety. 
Release Date: In theaters June 14 via Walt Disney Studios.

Ghostlight
Premiering at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, “Ghostlight” taps into the community, following a construction worker who ends up working on a local production of Romeo and Juliet. Directed by Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson with a script from O’Sullivan, the film stars Keith Kupferer, Dolly de Leon, Katherine May Kupferer, Tara Mallen, Hana Dworkin, Tommy Rivera-Vega, and more. 
Release Date: In theaters June 14 via IFC Films.

Trigger Warning
Jessica Alba stars in her first film in five years with “Trigger Warning.” Based on a short story by Otep Shamaya and directed by Mouly Surya, the film follows a Special Forces officer who finds herself facing off against a violent gang in her hometown. Written by John Brancato, Josh Olson, and Halley Gross, the film stars Anthony Michael Hall and Mark Webber alongside Alba.
Release Date: Available to stream June 21 on Netflix.

“The Bikeriders
After a tumultuous journey from its festival premiere to being picked up by Focus Features, “The Bikeriders” is finally hitting theaters. Jeff Nichols (“Midnight Special,” “Loving”) directs with Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, and Jodie Comer starring. Inspired by the 1967 photo book by Danny Lyon, the film follows the rise of the Vandals MC, a Chicago-based outlaw motorcycle club, through the eyes of members and their families and friends (read our review).
Release Date: In theaters June 21 via Focus Features.

Kinds of Kindness
Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos have teamed up again following the critical success of their 2023 feature, “Poor Things,” which resulted in Stone winning the Academy Award for Best Actress. In “Kinds of Kindness” the film is already receiving critical acclaim, with star Jesse Plemmons taking Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival. The film consists of three loosely connected stories with Plemmons, Stone, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer, all playing different characters (read our review).
Release Date: In theaters June 21 via Searchlight Pictures.
