Got a Tip?

Russell Crowe To Play Comedian Bill Hicks?

It’s always funny until someone gets hurt and then it’s just hilarious. Or at least it’s amusing when you think of Russell Crowe playing deceased subversive American stand-up comedian Bill Hicks. The Sydney Morning Herald (via Empire) is reporting that the humorless phone-throwing Aussie actor is trying to get a biopic of the acidic funnyman set up now that the “Nottingham”/ Robin Hood project has been delayed indefinitely.

Apparently New Zealand writer Mark Staufer has already written a treatment for a possible film (a treatment, how cute) and a first draft is going to be written, oooh! See you in 2010.

The controversial comic battled drug and alcohol abuse before dying from cancer at the early age of 32 in 1994.
