“Step Brothers” starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as grown-up idiots hits theaters on July 25th 2008. We’re both equally worried and looking forward to this film as the trailer is alternately hilarious and stooopid. To recap ourselves: It’s a Judd Apatow co-produced film that reteams the creative cast and crew of “Talledega Nights” (the same guys that brought you “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”). Ferrell’s friend and long-time collaborator Adam McKay directs and Reilly n’ Will play spoiled dumb-ass 40-year-old losers who still live at home and become ultra-competitive step-brothers when their single parents get married. But then they become bff. Let’s just hope it’s a shit-ton better than “Semi-Pro” was.
Update: MTV has a clip from the film which you can see below. We really like the father Richard Jenkins, who was excellent in the understated, “The Visitor.” This is surely nothing like that indie drama, but Jenkins is versatile and it’s great to see him do comedy too.
