“Baby we’re naked and we’ll hump me sexy!”
So the “Love Me Sexy” video from the basketball comedy “Semi-Pro” actually works twofold: it acts as an obvious viral promotional tool and it actually reveals some of the film’s plot (not to mention teases the soundtrack, see below).
Set in 1976 Will Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit wonder who apparently used the profits from his chart-topping success “Love Me Sexy” to leverage his dream of owning a basketball team. However, his franchise, the Flint Michigan Tropics are the worst team in the league and close to folding when the ABA announces its plans to merge with the NBA. If the team has any hopes for survival, they must drop their retarded bring-in-the audience-antics (bear cage matches, rollerskate cheerleader jumping, etc.) the Tropics must get their shit together and win games.
“Semi-Pro” co-stars Woody Harrelson, Will Arnett (“Blades of Glory,” “Arrested Development”) Outkast’s Andre 3000 (“Idlewild”), Rob Corddry, and is due in theaters on February 29, 2008. The “Love Me Sexy” track can be found on the film’s soundtrack which is due February 26 and features like-minded (and often cases very-obvious) funk tracks by War, Sly & The Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield and Brothers Johnson.
