– Photos of André 3000 in the upcoming Will Ferrell basketball comedy “Semi-Pro” have been leaking online. The movie looks like it’s built around the premise of, “hey, didn’t basketball players look funny in the ’70s?” We’re hoping it’s not as one-note as it looks. Meanwhile the trailer just hit Access Hollywood.
– “Grace Is Gone,” the apolitical Iraq war film starring a loose-cannoned John Cusak comes out this Friday (December 7). While it’s not directed by Clint Eastwood (it’s directed by James C. Strouse), the score is composed by Eastwood. Not many realize that the gruff actor-turned-director is an accomplished musician who has scored many films including his own “Million Dollar Baby,” “Mystic River” and of course, the olds-in-space classic, “Space Cowboys.” The soundtrack to the film was released back in October, presumably because the film was supposed to come out back then and got pushed.
The Moldy Peaches reunited for a second show (they played the night before) at the December 3rd premiere of “Juno,” the little film that could, starring Ellen Page who hipped director Jason Reitman to the Peaches and singer/guitarist Kimya Dawson. Reitman loved the music so much he used 7 Dawson solo tracks in the film, 3 Antsy Pants songs (another Dawson project) and the Moldy Peaches’ twistedly sweet song, “Anyone Else But You,” which is sung by Page and co-star Michael Cera at the end of the film. The “Juno” soundtrack hits digital stores December 11 and physical ones January 15 via Rhino. All the songs used in “Juno” are listed here.
