Ok, so first off we lied about blogging over the Thanksgiving weekend, sorry our Internetz home connection crapped out. Secondly, apparently the “August Rush” family drama about an orphaned musical prodigy movie and soundtrack (details and tracklist here) apparently charmed the pants off people and evidently some of our readers that can’t stop posting about it. Every once in a while we’ll actually care what you have to say. But we can’t necessarily endorse what looks like a sappy, saccharine, feel-good musical, but to each his own, we suppose. The soundtrack also includes songs John Legend, Chris Botti and Paula Cole, and Kaki King.
Apparently lots of you are big, big fans of Jonathan Rhys Meyers who does a lot of singing in the film (Keri Russell is also in this vanilla handshake). So you want it, you got it. We have 4 copies of this soundtrack to give away to all the soccer moms and single 30-something women apparently reading our blog (who knew?). First four people to answer our trivia question and email us gets a copy: what movie did Rhys Meyers first sing in? Hint, it’s made by a director whose very recent film we’ve been rather obsessed with (you must live within North America to be eligible).
“August Rush” finished seventh at the box office this weekend earning a decent $9.4 million and we’re kind of betting there’s going to be a slow, but uphill build to this one. While you’re emailing us about trying to win in our give-away. Listen to two tracks from this thing (Not the first post you expected as we got back, right? Us either.) Update: Contest closed. Thanks for playing.
