So, are these new songs from the film “The Go-Getter” which features the timid folkie M. Ward and doe-eyed actress Zooey Deschanel cover of British folkie ex-husband and wife duo Richard and Linda Thompson? [ed. which we’ve written about a few times].
Survey says, doesn’t look like it. The tracklist for “The Go-Getter” (below) indicates that only one song from the soundtrack is a Ward/Deschanel cover, plus M.Ward superfans Pitchfork reported a full-on collaboration a few months back.
“Matt and Zooey must have really hit it off, because the gravel-tongued folkie will soon begin working with the honey-voiced actress on an album of her own song,” the all things indie-site wrote in June of this year.
So alas, no extra soundtrack material it seems, though one of the songs, “You Really Got A Hold On Me” is a cover of a classic Smokey Robinson song.
