Even though they contemplated pulling the plug on Peter Berg’s $200 million “Battleship,” Universal is forging ahead even though, from the outset, this thing has total flop/camp classic written all over it. While the plot revolves around an international naval fleet coming together to battle a water-bound armada of otherworldly origin, most people are still trying to wrap their heads around the totally bizarre cast that includes Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, pop star Rihanna, Tom Arnold, Hamish Linklater and model Brooklyn Decker. Because, when you think of the words “summer blockbuster” those are the names that pop into your head.
Anyway, some set photos have hit the web of Rihanna in full Naval attire and it pretty much looks like the singer just changed out of her musical attire and threw on a uniform. Are we supposed to buy that she’s in military service of any kind? Look at those arms. It looks like the heaviest thing they’ve lifted in the past year is a toothbrush. She looks so waify that if a strong gale blows it might send her overboard. Or maybe they’ll just CGI her body into something resembling what a woman serving in the military might possibly look like.
Anyway, let’s look on the bright side. With the release date of May 18, 2012 there’s still lots of time to put this ship in the right direction…..right?
