As part of their massive fall preview, MTV has gotten their hands on a bunch of exclusive clips and we’ll be highlight a few this afternoon.
First up is a new clip from the highly anticipated, and very well received “Blue Valentine” starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. We sort of fell head over heels for the film when we saw it Cannes as it’s a bracing look at relationship in its final throes while cleverly also cutting back to show how it first gestated. We called it “prickly, raw and devastatingly real” and it will definitely be a strong Oscar contender in the acting categories .
In the clip below we see one of the flashback sequences detailing the first meeting between Dean (Gosling) and Cindy (Williams) at an old folks home where Dean has just helped a new resident move in and notices Cindy who’s there caring for her grandmother. The scene is a good slice of the natural charm that bleeds through the picture.
“Blue Valentine” continues to make the rounds through the festival circuit hitting TIFF next month. The film hits theaters on December 31st.
