Patricia Clarkson Joins The Cast Of Lone Scherfig’s Rom-Com ‘One Day’

Patricia Clarkson has joined the cast of Lone Scherfig’s currently in-production adaptation of David Nicholls’ “One Day,” starring Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway.

The film, which will be Scherfig’s follow up to the successful “An Education,” follows the story of a couple on the same day, July 15th, for the twenty years after they share a one-night stand together at university.

Rafe Spall (“Hot Fuzz,” “Shaun Of The Dead”) and Romola Garai (“Atonement,” ‘Glorious 39″) also co-star as the respective partners of Sturgess and Hathaway’s characters, Dexter and Emma, with Nicholls adapting for the screen from his own novel. No word on who Clarkson will portray in the story though a commenter on the Facebook announcement suspects it’ll be Dexter’s mother.

The first images from the set have also been captured with the two leads in retro ’80’s attire at Edinburgh University where their fateful first encounter takes place. A 2011 fall release is being planned.
