We’ll be honest, we don’t have much faith or interest in the upcoming “Conan” remake. It’s being produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes which has given us junk like the recent “Nightmare on Elm Street” reboot and it’s directed by Marcus Nispel who delivered two other Dunes remake duds, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Friday the 13th” (the company is all about re-dos obviously, trying to capitalize on old franchises no one seemingly wants anymore).
However, two new images from the film have arrived (via Latino Review and FSR). One shows the new Conan, Jason Momoa, bloody, ripped and sweaty and looking appropriately fierce, and one looks… utterly hilarious and something you’d normally see spray-painted on the side of a van that’s blasting Van Halen or Yes. Some set images have leaked as well, but they’re pretty unremarkable
To each his own we suppose, but Dunes productions have a lot to prove as far as we’re concerned and ultimately it’s a film probably meant for those that actually enjoyed the aforementioned Platinum Dunes films (though we’re not quite sure who those people are).
“Conan” also co-stars Rachel Nichols (“G.I. Joe”), Rose McGowan, Stephen Lang (“Avatar”) and Ron Perlman. Lionsgate Films plans to release the adventure film sometime in 2011.
