After premiring at the Cannes Film Festival in May, next month, Walter Salles' "On the Road" will go for round two on the festival circuit as it will arrive at TIFF in a new recut and shorter version of the film. Whether this will solve any of the problems of the film, which according to this writer, was a rather listless pace and inability to capture the adventurer's spirit, the new trailer for the movie is certainly much more upbeat.
Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart and Sam Riley form the central trio of the adaptation of Jack Kerouac's novel, as they travel the country, fighting, loving and inspiring each other. Along the way they run into a rogues gallery of folks with a variety of big names filling in roles including Viggo Mortensen, Steve Buscemi, Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, Terrence Howard, Elisabeth Moss and many more. The cast is generally very good, but the film itself doesn't match their enthusiasm, though perhaps this new cut will change the shape and feel of the pic.
IFC Films will release "On the Road" in December. Watch below.
