Ansel Elgort pretty much came out of nowhere to become the fastest rising young actor in Hollywood. His first role was in the ill-advised "Carrie" remake, and the next thing you knew, he bagged a part in the "Divergent" franchise. Just a few months later he led the tweenage hit "The Fault In Our Stars," and scored a leading part in Jason Reitman‘s (terrible) "Men, Women & Children." So, what’s next? Teaming up with Edgar Wright.
Variety reports that Elgort is in early talks to star in "Baby Driver," beating out Logan Lerman and John Boyega for the part. A project that has been brewing for years, it became Wright’s next film following "Ant-Man"-gate last summer, which saw him exit Marvel‘s movie over creative differences. THR describes the plot as centering on "on a getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom." The movie is being co-financed by Sony, and will be distributed through their Tri-Star shingle.
Meanwhile, Vulture tried to get Wright’s feedback on the "Ant-Man" trailer. "I can’t! I can’t even answer it," he said, laughing, before adding, "And you already know what the answer is anyway." Penny for your thoughts, Edgar, penny for your thoughts….
