This is a bit surprising. We figured that Dwayne Johnson was enough of a star on his own not to have to circle the fifth installment of someone else’s franchise, but Hollywood works in mysterious ways.
Deadline reports that The Rock is looking at a leading role in the forthcoming “Fast Five” which will find him on the side of law and order, presumably chasing Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and their steroid and octane fueled friends. Justin Lin, Chris Morgan and Neal Moritz are returning as director, writer and producer respectively and the productions is apparently eyeing a whole bunch of exotic locations.
As much as we don’t give a shit about this franchise, at the very least if Johnson joins the film, it at least puts off the prospect of “Tooth Fairy 2” happening. For now.
