“The Bye Bye Man” is the latest in the seemingly endless string of the modestly budgeted horror films that are flooding theaters nowadays. The story follows three college students who move into a house together, and when they say or think the name of the villain, they’re soon hunted by the supernatural entity known only as the Bye Bye Man. Mixing elements of “Candyman,” “Sinister,” and just about every other horror film, the story may seem familiar, but there’s no denying the trailer is memorable.
Directed by Stacy Title and written by her husband Jonathan Penner, a former contestant on “Survivor,” the film stars Carrie-Anne Moss and a few relative unknowns. Originally slated to open this past summer, “The Bye Bye Man” is set to be released on January 13, 2017.
