There’s a little movie from Down Under you might want to keep an eye out for. “Girl Asleep” has been quietly picking up notice and awards: it’s been honored with prizes from the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Seattle International Film Festival and the Adelaide Film Festival. As the film heads into theaters this weekend, we have an exclusive clip that will get you in the fighting spirit for the film.

Directed by Rosemary Myers and starring Bethany Whitmore, Harrison Feldman and Matthew Whittet, the story follows high schooler Greta who experiences a whimsical 15th birthday that she’ll never forget. Here’s the official synopsis:
In this vibrant portrayal of Australian adolescence, Greta Driscoll’s bubble of obscure loserdom is burst when her parents throw her a surprise 15th birthday party and invite the whole school! Oscilloscope will release “Girl Asleep” theatrically, preceded by Amy Nicholson‘s delightful, award-winning documentary short “Pickle,” at Landmark Nuart in Los Angeles on September 23rd and at Landmark Sunshine in New York on September 30th, before expanding nationwide over the following weeks.
