Got a Tip?

Terrence Malick’s ‘Song To Song’ To Make World Premiere & Open SXSW 2017

The films of Terrence Malick are usually used to high-brow premieres at Cannes, Venice or Berlin, but this year, the director is gettingĀ his BBQ game on in Austin.

The director’s latest, “Song To Song,” is slated to make its World Premiere and open the 2017 South By Southwest film festival. It makes a lot of sense given that the film was shot in Austin, and Malick lives there too. And hey, he can even go back home after the first screening. And given that the South By Southwest music festival comes right after the film festivities, one wonders if any of the film’s many musical acts ā€” which range from Iggy Pop to Patti Smith to Arcade Fire to St. Vincent ā€” will help celebrate the film by dropping by for its bow.
