Update: HitFix has confirmed that David Slade will shooting planned pickup shots and not reshoots, and will not involve any action sequences. A rep for Summit says “the shoot has been planned for months, the picture is not in ‘trouble’ and, in fact, the studio thinks it may be the best of the three so far.” There you have it. No need to worry about Bella and Edward Twihards.
With the release date just over two months away, it seems the rumors of David Slade’s troubled production of “Twilight: Eclipse” just won’t go away.
Playlist reader KitCon alerted us to a post by LaineyGossip (who have a pretty decent track record in breaking stories) are reporting the Summit is quietly assembling the crew and cast to reconvene in Vancouver for to reshoot “key scenes” and “a few fight sequences.” The most interesting part of the story is that the studio is reaching out to Chris Weitz and Catherine Hardwicke to helm the scenes, not David Slade who has apparently run into some “creative differences” with the higher ups.
Hardwicke looks to be the most logical choice as she’s most likely already in Vancouver prepping “The Girl With The Red Riding Hood” that will soon shoot with Amanda Seyfriend. Moreover, there are reports that’s already been scouting studio and locations space for the re-shoots (though how they know she’s not checking for “The Girl With The Red Riding Hood” is unclear).
The other problem is that find space in Robert Pattinson’s schedule is proving to be difficult. The actor is currently in England shooting “Bel Ami.” “Twilight: Eclipse” apparently needs about seven days worth of reshoots, but due to the actor’s hectic schedule they will be trying to cut that in half by doing three, 18 hours days. Nothing like cramming in reshoots of scenes that weren’t done right in the first place. Great idea.
All this being said, David Slade still might return if everyone makes nice but that remains to be seen. At the end of the day, the big question is will Twilight fans notice potential problems with the film or even care? Our guess? Probably not.
