While promoting his new super-hero movie, “Kick-Ass,” Christopher Mintz-Plasse spoke to New York magazine about teaming up with Kick-Ass costar Chloe Moretz for a segment of the upcoming anthology movie “Untitled Comedy” (wait, is that the title or just a placeholder accidentally made official?) which features contributions from Brett Ratner, Bob Odenkirk, and the Farrelly Brothers, among others.
“You know those movies like ‘New York, I Love You,’ with those vignettes? The Farrelly brothers are doing that, but its twenty comedic shorts,” says Mintz-Plasse. “I got to work with Chloe in the same one…It’s about the first time a 12-year-old girl gets her period and she’s with three gross guys. None of them know what to do, because none of them have ever been around a period stain before. It’s just very dirty and silly and stupid and lots of fun…Elizabeth Banks directed it.” Heh. Sounds like a fun concept.
The R-rated omnibus features seventeen directors in all including Brett Ratner, Bob Odenkirk and Griffin Dunne and stars Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Gerard Butler, Elizabeth Banks, Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber, Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, Emma Stone, Matt Walsh, Tony Shalhoub, Kieran Culkin and Patrick Warburton; this sounds like it’s going to be a pretty big hit.
Emma Stone, who stars in her short with Kieran Culkin, and was directed by Griffin Dunne, went on to spill some more beans while promoting her upcoming film, “Paper Man.” “Well. all of the stories are completely different,” Stone said. “I think they’re going to tie them together; I don’t know how. I can’t give it away, but theirs (Jackman/Winslet) is called ‘The Catch.’ He’s a bachelor….but there’s a catch. She’s going on a date with this bachelor, and you will not believe what you see when you see it. It’s so fucking funny. It’s so funny. And then Kieran and I are exes, and I’ve come to return his…toys. He’s working at a grocery store — on the night shift — and we have this very intense exchange. They’re all these five-minute shorts. You’ll really like it.”
While Stone tried to dance around the big reveal, someone has given it away: apparently the catch is that Huge Jackman’s character has a pair testicles dangling from his chin. The Farrelly brothers strike again!
Even though we’re previously touched on how omnibus projects are usually hit or miss, people like raunch. And lots of it. So thanks to American males aged 18-25, this film could easily sail into the annals of filthy, grandma offending blockbusters. –Sara Laurence
