Laura Harring "Very Sure" 'Mulholland Drive 2' Is Around The Corner

Fans of soft-core lesbian antics and altogether bat-shit craziness, rejoice. A sequel to David Lynch’s 2001 bizarro Hollywood nightmare, “Mulholland Drive” is rumored to be in the works.

In an interview with PopcornBiz (via Cinematical), Laura Harring, who starred as Rita in the film, let word slip that Lynch might be working on a follow up. Sort of. In a coded message, that would make The Log Lady proud, Harring told the site, “I’m very sure it’s coming, it’s being born… I cannot really tell you how I know.”

Okay.

It’s unknown if Harring and Lynch (who recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of his hit TV show “Twin Peaks” last week) are psychically linked via the director’s love of transcendental meditation, however interestingly enough, Harring’s character along with a few others from “Mulholland Drive” popped up at the end of 2006’s “Inland Empire.”

We’re not sure what to make of this story or how we feel about a sequel, the film is much beloved here at the Playlist (we rated it as the #2 on our Best of 2001 list) and can’t say we fully believe this is moving forward, but then again we weren’t sure that Lynch would ever collaborate with Danger Mouse either. We’ll keep our eye on this one. — B.T. Webster
