Got a Tip?

Margaret Qualley To Star In ‘Maid’ Series For Netflix Produced By Margot Robbie

If you’re not familiar with the work of young actress Margaret Qualley, then shame on you. Okay, maybe that’s a bit harsh, but the sentiment stands. In a relatively short time, she has appeared in a number of quality films and TV series, showcasing her range, such as “The Leftovers,” “The Nice Guys,” “Novitiate,” “Donnybrook,” and last year’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” And it appears she’s going to continue to do so with the forthcoming series, “Maid.”

According to Deadline, Qualley is set to star in the upcoming series, “Maid,” based on the best-selling memoir from author Stephanie Land. The series will tell the story of a young, single mother (Qualley) that barely scrapes by as a maid, dealing with the hardships that come along with living in poverty in the US. “Maid” is from writer Molly Smith Metzler and produced by Margot Robbie’s Lucky Chap production company along with John Wells Productions and Warner Bros.

As mentioned, this isn’t the first time that Qualley has appeared in a TV series. She really broke out as a star in the HBO series, “The Leftovers.” The former dancer also appeared in the FX limited series, “Fosse/Verdon.” And even though 2020 has been a crazy year for most everyone in the film/TV industry, Qualley has already premiered her latest feature, “My Salinger Year,” at this year’s Berlin Film Festival pre-pandemic. And she is set to star in a forthcoming Claire Denis film, “The Stars at Noon,” where she’ll appear opposite Robert Pattinson. In addition, it was just announced that she will star in “Head Full of Ghosts,” a film adaptation of the popular horror novel.

Needless to say, Qualley is one of the best up-and-coming actors in the industry, and with a best-selling memoir as inspiration, it would appear that “Maid” could be a huge series when it is finally released. And yes, before you wonder which streaming service is going to nab the show, it appears that Netflix has already snatched it up, adding to the platform’s already impressive lineup of originals.
