Liam Neeson is 68 years old. In the United States, that would make him retirement age and would guarantee him discounts at restaurants and hotels. But don’t let the actor’s age fool you. Neeson is still an action star. Honestly, he might be one of the most reliable action stars on the planet, right now. And that’s not ending anytime soon, as he just signed up for his latest project, “Retribution.”
According to Deadline, Neeson is set to star in “Retribution,” which is the upcoming action-thriller directed by Nimród Antal. The film is a remake of the 2015Spanish film, “El Desconocido,” and tells the story of a man that is forced to drive around in a car and complete tasks after a bad guy wires his vehicle to explode. Yes, that’s very similar to “Speed,” but this one stars Neeson! So, you see, it’s different.
Over the past decade or so, Neeson has become one of the most consistent actors in the business. Since he really reinvented himself with “Taken,” he’s starred in numerous action films, including recent films such as “Honest Thief,” “Cold Pursuit,” “The Commuter,” and “Run All Night.” Basically, it’s gotten to the point where you know exactly what you’re going to get with these types of films, and there are plenty of people that are still excited to see who Neeson is fighting next.

Antal is a filmmaker that is probably best known for helming the 2010 sci-fi film, “Predators.” He’s also directed films such as “Kontroll” and “Vacancy.” Most recently, he’s been working on TV series such as “Wayward Pines” and the Apple TV+ thriller, “Servant.”
It’s unclear when production might begin on “Retribution,” but given the film takes place largely within the confines of a vehicle, with a relatively small cast, this seems like a feature that can easily be made within the new COVID-19 protocols. So, hopefully, we can see Neeson take on the subgenre that “Speed” helped create soon enough.
