Got a Tip?

‘The Woman In The Window’ Trailer: Amy Adams’ Long-Delayed Thriller From Joe Wright Finally Arrives In May…Hopefully

Let’s take a trip back to December 2019, nearly a year-and-a-half ago. That’s when the world was shown the first full trailer for Joe Wright’s thriller, “The Woman in the Window.” At that time, the film was expected to arrive in early 2020 and would be distributed by Fox 2000 (which was soon to be shuttered by Disney after the Fox acquisition). Boy, oh boy, what a difference a year makes. Now, in April 2021, we have yet another trailer for “The Woman in the Window,” which will finally see the light of day in May, but now through Fox/Disney. Instead, it’s a Netflix feature.

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, “The Woman in the Window” follows the story of a woman (Amy Adams) that suffers from debilitating agoraphobia and is stuck in her apartment in the city. However, her life gets thrown for a loop when she seemingly witnesses a violent crime happen across the street, in another apartment building. But when the cops investigate, things don’t appear to be exactly as they seem.

The fact that Joe Wright and Amy Adams are teaming up for a thriller would be reason enough to check out “The Woman in the Window.” However, there is now a behind-the-scenes drama aspect to the feature that makes the project even more intriguing. Well before that 2019 trailer was released, the film was delayed after reports surfaced that Fox wasn’t happy with the test screenings and reshoots were in order. As was recently revealed, the studio brought in Tony Gilroy to write new scenes, and the film went back into production. Of course, Disney eventually purchased Fox, and the film was the property of the Mouse House. But when the pandemic hit and the anticipated 2020 release date was impossible, Disney sold the distribution rights to Netflix.

And so, here we are. Three years after production began, a year-and-a-half after the first trailer, and months after a studio change, we’re going to finally see “The Woman in the Window.” Well, barring some sort of comet hitting earth and destroying everything.

“The Woman in the Window” is expected to arrive on Netflix on May 14. You can watch the newest trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Anna Fox (Amy Adams) feels safest when she’s watching the world from behind her window. Until the Russell family moves in across the street, and she witnesses something unimaginable. The question is…what really happened?
