Got a Tip?

Vincent Cassel Also Joins David Cronenberg’s ‘The Talking Cure’ According To French Distributors

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Viggo Mortensen has replaced Christoph Waltz in David Cronenberg’s forthcoming “The Talking Cure,” an alert reader pointed us to a post on the French distributor Mars Films’ Facebook page that announced that Vincent Cassel has also joined the cast. Here’s the Google translated version of the Facebook update below:

The cast of THE TALKING CURE the next film by David Cronenberg has been announced Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender will play respectively Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, along with Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel.

With Cassel, who appeared in “Eastern Promises,” Cronenberg adds another actor in addition to Mortensen who has worked with him before. For American audiences, Cassel is probably best known for his roles in “Ocean’s 12” and “Ocean’s 13” while arthouse hounds, may recall his turn in Gaspar Noe’s stomach churning “Irreversible.” Cassel is also set to appear in the highly anticipated two-part French gangster epic “Mesrine,” the first part of which will be released by Music Box Films at the end of the summer.

Despite the brief stumbling block provided by Waltz’s exit from the film, “The Walking Cure” marches steadily onward to its May 17th shooting date. The film recently received a small boost of funding from Ontario Media Development Corp and is set for a ten week shoot in Germany.
