We can’t remember the last Oscar show that was spoiled so far in advance. The production has more leaks than a baby’s diaper with word of the all star presenters, a Neil Patrick Harris and Martin Short musical number and the axing of the Best Original Song performances all coming early.
Now, according to Bloody Disgusting, word has arrived that the show will feature a tribute to horror films. No word yet on what exactly it will entail, but we’re guessing it will amount to a montage of the most obvious horror clips of all time. Even though this segment seems kind of random, we suppose it’s nice the Academy is going to tip their hat to genre that’s typically ignored by them altogether. The Oscar show does kind of pull together some kind of “tribute” seemingly every year, and you can take a look at the tribute to women in film below from 1993. The quality is bit off, but you’ll get the idea.
As you’re well aware, the Oscars are this Sunday. Sarah Polley will have a new short film, “The Heart,” airing during the Canadian broadcast that she removed her name from citing conflicts with it being used for a margarine ad. And while many film lovers call the show their Super Bowl it’s actually the second biggest night for advertising after that event, so there you go.
