Chace Crawford Was Shocked Tilda Swinton Signed On For ‘The Boys’ Cameo: “I Thought She Was High Or Something”

It’s still somewhat shocking that “The Boys” is such a hit for Prime Video. It’s a show that is so over the top with sex and violence that you would imagine people would be disgusted by it by now. But not only is it still a beloved show, but “The Boys” is actually attracting some of the best actors in the world to do small roles, such as Tilda Swinton. Yes, that Tilda Swinton.

For those who haven’t seen the show, “The Boys” features a character called The Deep. Think Aquaman but a bigger doofus and also has sex with sea life. It was revealed earlier this season that The Deep, played by Chace Crawford, is hiding his octopus girlfriend in his closet. I told you this show is deranged. But the biggest reveal is in the credits of that episode, as we learn that Tilda Swinton voices the octopus who wants nothing more than to go public with her relationship.

And in a recent interview with the Happy. Sad. Confused. podcast, Chace Crawford talked about what it was like when he found out that Swinton was going to be his scene partner.

“I can’t believe she did it,” he admitted. “I thought she was high or something, when they told us.”

He explained that, on the day of shooting, he was reading his lines opposite an empty tank (the octopus is CGI) and someone off to the side reading in an “overly dramatic” way. He had no idea that showrunner Eric Kripke would land Swinton to dub those lines.
