Formerly titled “The Vanishings At Caddo Lake,” filmmaker Celine Held and Logan George shot their film in late 2021 and 2022 around Karnak, Texas, after a picture of the real Caddo Lake inspired them to build a narrative around its location. Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen star in the film as two family members who inadvertently discover what’s behind the lake’s strange vanishings. Read on for an official synopsis of “Caddo Lake,” courtesy of HBO:
When an eight-year-old girl mysteriously vanishes, a series of past deaths and disappearances start to link together, forever altering a broken family’s history.
Along with O’Brien and Scanlen, “Caddo Lake” also stars Diana Hopper, Caroline Falk, Sam Hennings, Eric Lange, and Lauren Ambrose.
Held and George also co-write the script “Caddo Lake.” As noted earlier, M. Night Shyamalan leads producers, with Ashwin Rajan, Kara Durrett, and Josh Godfrey. Executive producers include Kimberly Steward, Harrison Huffman, and Will Greenfield.
“Caddo Lake” premieres on Max on October 10. Watch a teaser for the film below.
