Leonardo DiCaprio Producing & Starring In 'Deep Blue Goodbye'

In an article discussing Peter Chernin’s new gig as a 20th Century Fox producer, Variety revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in the tropical mystery “The Deep Blue Goodbye.”

Leo is also signed on as a producer along side Jennifer Davisson-Killoran ( of DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company) Amy Robinson, and Chernin. ‘Deep Blue’ (no relation to the LL Cool J vs. super sharks movie) will be an adaptation of John D. MacDonald’s 1964 novel that was the first in a series of 21 best selling novels. Dana Stevens’ (“For The Love Of The Game”) current draft has been drawing a fair amount of interest from directors as well.

Variety gives us the gist of the story, “DiCaprio is in line to play Travis McGee, a self-described beach bum who lives aboard the 52-foot houseboat The Busted Flush, and alleviates his cash flow problems by hiring on as a ‘salvage consultant.’ He recovers property for clients, taking a hefty percentage and getting into a lot of danger and romance in sun-drenched Florida.”

Specifics are a bit sketchy on this so far but we will keep you updated as more details float to the surface. This project isn’t on DiCaprio’s IMDB page yet (not that that means much) and he already has a very busy schedule so who knows where he will fit this in and when filming could conceivably begin.
