Muse's Matt Bellamy To Score 'Clash Of The Titans?' Kasabian To Score Guy Ritchie's Next?

Aside from being big, bombastic British stadium rock bands that we’d rather not have to listen to, Muse and Kasabian look to have something else in common – they may be moving into the world of film scoring. In an interview yesterday on KROQ’s Kevin & Bean Show, lead singer Matt Bellamy was asked by a fan if he’d ever consider scoring a film, following his soundtrack work on the likes of “Twilight” and “Southland Tales.”

Bellamy responded that, following his work scoring the end credits of Tom Twyker’s “The International,” embedded below and which inspired him to include the orchestral track ‘Exogenesis’ on the band’s new album ‘The Resistance’ (which hits stores today), he may be doing some “vague work” on Louis Leterrier’s “Clash of the Titans” remake. The track for the Twyker movie is ok, in a ‘Moby doing the end credits of a Bourne movie’ kind of way, and it seems like a decent fit of musician and material. But we wouldn’t put the house on this definitely happening – Bellamy sounds frustrated by the process, saying of filmmakers ‘They’re difficult to work with…As soon as you go into the Hollywood world, you’re at the bottom of a very big pile.” The relevant part of the interview can be found here, in Part 3, at about 11:30 in.

Meanwhile NME note that Kasabian, whose new album is slightly less awful than their previous ones, are being linked by British tabloid The Sun, to director Guy Ritchie. The paper reports Ritchie saying that “I’d love to meet up with the band. The music on the latest album is like a film soundtrack”. As usual, though, the tabloid is pretty much pulling a story out of thin air – the article says that a) Ritchie likes Kasabian and b) Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno wants to compose for film, but there doesn’t seem to be anything concrete linking the two, to “Lobo” or any other future Ritchie movie (Although we admit that there’s more of a chance of this happening than Kasabian’s hilarious idea that they could get Quentin Tarantino to direct their live DVD…)

Speaking of Lobo, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is throwing his hat into the ring to play the character. Morgan, who is currently starring in comic book movie “The Losers” for “Lobo” producers Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman, told Superhero Hype “They’re making “Lobo” right now. That would be cool… I do have an in, I’ll be elbowing somebody soon”. Jeffrey Dean Morgan’d be fine, I suppose. Tracy Morgan, now that’s the inspired choice…
