More today from Jason Reitman’s “Up In The Air.” Yesterday’s poster release has since been taken down at Empire and is being pulled from sites around the web, so enjoy while you can. A bit of a shame, it’s certainly better than the new one.
Anyway, first up is the first official still from the film featuring George Clooney as protagonist Ryan Bingham. As noted yesterday, his performance has been garnering strong award season buzz from test screenings along with the film. If Reitman can get Aaron Eckhart a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, we guess Clooney can’t be too far off.
There’s also the new poster which is being billed as the U.S. version (Empire, who leaked yesterday’s poster, are a British publication). It’s pretty much the same as that one except the characters are shadowed, in different positions and the credits have been dumped (did they reveal too much like the soundtrack credits we noted?). Reitman’s “Thank You For Smoking” has also been added into the title, though still no Reitman which is pretty astounding considering he was nominated for the Best Director Oscar in 2007 for “Juno.”
The first trailer for the film is reportedly set for a September 10th online release before hitting theaters in front of prints of Steven Soderbergh’s “The Informant!” starring Matt Damon and Brandon Camps’ “Love Happens.” which features… Eckhart. The film itself will of course premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival before revealing what should be a December release. [new poster via /Film]
