Asian news outlets are reporting that Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo is currently in talks to play Kato in Michel Gondry’s Seth Rogen led “The Green Hornet” film.
Kwon has apparently played roles with a martial arts basis before and reportedly had a successful audition for the role left vacant by Stephen Chow despite the fact his English “hasn’t been perfect throughout the audition.”
Kwon would follow the likes of countrymen Lee Byung-Hun and Rain who have ventured into Hollywood this year with “G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra” and “Ninja Assassin.”
“The Green Hornet” is due out July 2010. Can we sort of all admit now that the only reason we remotely “care” about this project is because of the players involved? (which of course is one less interesting person now that Chow is gone) Seriously, is it too late to bring him back? [Twitch]
Update: Guess we missed this (or missed noting it in other pieces), but Cameron Diaz officially confirmed her participation in the project this weekend at Comic Con.
