Poster & Trailer: The Doors Documentary, 'When You're Strange'

Thirty years after the death of Jim Morrison and the subsequent end of the band, The Doors are a testament to the notion that musicians live on through their music long after the curtain closes.

Director Tom Dicillo’s upcoming documentary “When You’re Strange” hopes to carry on The Doors’ legacy. In what is expected to be an audio-visual haven for Doors’ fans and music fans in general, the documentary will chronicle the rise and demise of the L.A. ’60s acid rockers through its showcase of never-before-seen footage, unreleased tracks and rare interviews. As the trailer rightly puts it, “When You’re Strange” will simply tell the story of “four friends [who] came together to set the world on fire.”

Our friends over at The Daily Swarm found a recent trailer and posted it and since we’ve never seen it, we’ll post it too, but it’s admittedly old, was put together before Sundance 2009, and does not feature the voice of Johnny Depp who signed on to narrate the film in February, after reviews in January sort of shat on Dicillo’s reportedly stiff and stilted narration. Still, it’s something and hey, there’s a new poster (above) and a website too! Yoinks. – Simon Dang
