'Bottle Rocket' Criterion DVD: The Photgraphy of Laura Wilson

Owen and Luke Wilson’s mom is apparently a pretty kick-ass black-and-white photographer and she documented tons of the “Bottle Rocket” boys adventures, including shots of them at Sundance with the original black-and-white short, photos on the set during the feature and various stages of pre and post production. Some of them are clipped cause and didn’t want to make them too big as to devalue the Criterion disc or infringe on the copyright of Mrs. Wilson, but we just wanted to show them because a) they’re pretty cool, b) they demonstrate the riches available on the Criterion Collection DVD. Note Owen Wilson’s long hair in the second group of photos. By the time the feature began his hair was long, but Wes Anderson insisted he cut it back down to the original “hey, are you in the army” length. The DVD has titles before all the shots giving deeper context too. Our personal favorite is the one with Wes and the light meter. Also note the posters for the “Bottle Rocket” short based on the Wilson’s mothers greatly detailed work.
