Are you kidding us? Ha, does Joaquin Phoenix think he’s Johnny Cash? Did all that deep “Walk The Line,” karaoke method acting really go to his head? Hollywood’s most insufferable and cocky actor claims he has quit acting to focus on his music career.
“I want to take this opportunity …also to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor … I’m not doing films anymore. Yeah. I’m working on my music. I’m done. I’ve been through that,” he said to Extra last night.
But is the hyper-arrogant actor in for a rude awakening? As Vulture points out, his band The Lady Is a Tramp, features Antony Langdon on lead vocals, but the singer just wrote in a MySpace post,that he has reunited with his original band, Spacehog (remember those winners?).
So did Phoenix just quit acting for nothing? Will he have to eat his words? His shoe? Some humble pie? This isn’t the actors’ first foray into music, as Phoenix has seemingly had one foot out the acting door for some time. He’s been directing faux goth music videos for indie artists like She Wants Revenge, Silversun Pickups and People in Planes.
Oh, he’s so multi-talented. What to do for an encore. Hey, maybe STFU? Dare to dream.
