Rose McGowan (who recently played a stripper in “Planet Terror”) has been cast to play the notorious adult-film star Linda Lovelace (known as Linda Boreman when she kept her pants on), star of the classics “Deep Throat,” in a biopic of her tragic life titled “Inferno.”
To be written and directed by first timer Matthew Wilder, the gritty film will document how Linda’s abusive husband drove her into the sex industry, which is ultimately how she will always be remembered, to her rebirth as an anti-porn activist and feminist. Can McGowan handle that? The sexed up pin-up role, sure, but has she got the dramatic chops to make a switch like that? A while back it was reported that Anna Faris had completely bailed on the project (as she was going to be making a splash as a ‘mainstream’ porn star in “The House Bunny” anyway), and apparently names like Meg Ryan and Angelina Jolie were attached to the film at some point. Other cast members include Bill Pullman as Hugh Hefner and Josh Lucas as Linda’s aforementioned sleazy husband. We, for one, are looking forward to McGowan going deep for once.
