Watch: First Trailer For 'A Separation' Director Asghar Farhadi's 'The Past' Starring Bérénice Bejo & Tahar Rahim

nullThe summer movie season may be heading into full swing, but with the Cannes Film Festival about six weeks away, we’re going to be getting a bit arthouse on you from time to time, and this weekend brings with it a fresh look at a movie highly expected to reach the Croisette.

Asghar Farhadi‘s previous effort, “A Separation,” was nothing short of a sensation, sweeping up the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, with his leads snapping up Silver Bears for themselves before going on to win Best Foreign Film at the Oscars. And his latest, “The Past,” looks like another compelling domestic drama. “The Artist” star Bérénice Bejo, “A Prophet” lead Tahar Rahim and Ali Mosaffa, are the trio that lead the film in the story of an Iranian man who leaves his French wife and children to return to his country. But when he has to come back to France to complete the divorce, he sees his wife has moved on.

Granted, the trailer is in French and thus we don’t understand much, but we dig the mood and tone going on and are of course, we’re eager to see it. “The Past” opens in France on May 15th, (not so?) coincidentally the first day of Cannes. No word on U.S. distribution yet. Watch below. [Allocine]
