Got a Tip?

Alden Ehrenreich Tapped For Key Role In Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’ Series

Legacy projects are becoming a big part of Marvel Studios’ future film, and TV plans and nothing could be more apparent than the introduction of Riri Williams, a young engineering genius that can build her own armor suit without the help of Stark Industries technology. We already know that the “Ironheart” series is gearing up to shoot soon, and its star Dominique Thorne will make her MCU debut this November in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

The upcoming Marvel project has landed an exciting addition to the cast, as Deadline reports that actor Alden Ehrenreich has taken a crucial role in the streaming series. Ehrenreich joins a supporting lineup including Anthony Ramos (“In The Heights”), Lyric Ross, and Manny Montana.

Ehrenreich’s credits include things like the Coen Brothers’Hail, Caesar!,” “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimer,” and the short-lived Peacock streaming series “Brave New World.” He’s a talented actor that could easily play either friend or foe to Williams.

What Ehrenreich’s role will be is unclear. However, there has been growing speculation that “Ironheart” and the War Machine project “Armor Wars” may feature the son of Jeff Bridges’ Obadiah Stane, the big bad of the original “Iron Man.” His son, Ezekiel Stane, who first appeared in the comics in 2008, would be a fun addition to these armor suit projects by connecting them to the first film. Marvel Studios tends to keep returning to Tony Stark/Iron Man linkage as often as they can, so this might be just one more legacy nod to their origins.

It will be interesting to see if Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer appears, given his role in the source material for “Armor Wars.” This could lead to a potential crossover between Rhodey and Williams as there have been assumptions about Hammer’s appearance in the “Thunderbolts” film.

Later this month, we’ll see Marvel Studios return to Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con, and we could learn more about “Ironheart” along with who these other actors are playing. Either way, we’ll likely have to wait until sometime in 2023, presumably in the latter half, to see the series.
