Alex Garland's 'Annihilation' Already Looks Incredibly Beautiful

Having spent most of last year deservedly celebrating the success of his feature directorial debut “Ex Machina,” writer/director Alex Garland is now busy at work on his next film, “Annihilation.” And while it will likely be some time before we get any official imagery, behind-the-scenes looks from cinematographer Rob Hardy (“Ex Machina,” “Tracks“), the cast, and the director himself already show that Garland’s futuristic tale is, if anything, going to look great.

An adaptation of the book by  Jeff VanderMeer, and starring Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Jennifer Jason LeighGina Rodriguez and Tessa Thompson, the story follows four women who venture into the mysterious Area X after 11 previous expeditions ended in tragedy. And these images suggest a movie that’s going to bring some visual beauty to the eerie story, and it’s certainly a pretty great tease of what’s to come.
