Adding a Skarsgård to a film or TV project is never a bad thing. Whether that’s Stellan, Bill, or Alexander, it’s safe to say there’s never too many Skarsgård’s in a project. So, even though HBO’s “Succession” has been doing just fine without any of the famous acting family involved, it’s nice to see that is being rectified for Season 3.
According to Variety, Alexander Skarsgård has been added to the cast of “Succession” for the upcoming Season 3. The Emmy-winning series will feature the actor as a new character named Lukas Matsson, described as a confrontational (shocking for “Succession,” I know) tech founder and CEO. So, like Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg but way more handsome? Ok, got it.
Skarsgård is probably best known for his film work such as “The Legend of Tarzan,” “Melancholia,” and the recent appearance in “Godzilla vs. Kong.” But he’s also no stranger to prestige TV, having starred in “Big Little Lies,” “The Little Drummer Girl,” and recently in Stephen King’s “The Stand.” Clearly, this is an actor that is able to elevate any project that he’s part of, so putting him in the “Succession” blender and mixing it up can only be a good thing.
“Succession” is the highly popular HBO drama series about a media mogul and the fight amongst his family members to be the next in line to run the business. As you might expect, there is plenty of backstabbing and drama. Oh and there’s a very angry Brian Cox.
Season 3 of “Succession” doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will be one of the biggest TV shows of the year when it finally does arrive back on HBO.
