It’s been a while since we’ve had an opportunity to discuss one of our favorite over-the-top 1980s soundtrack “hits,” a little number called, “The Touch,” by one-“hit” wonder Stan Bush.
The cheesy, but amazingly over-dramatic rock song was first featured in the original 1986 “Transformers: The Movie” animated film and then made somewhat a cult hit when Paul Thomas Anderson recycled the song for “Boogie Nights” (we wrote about that cinematic homage, and the soundtrack that at length way back in the day).
According to a Transformers fansite (via /Film), the aged Stan Bush, still clinging to the song that once made him not-so-really semi famous has recorded a “killer” new version of “The Touch” that he hopes will appear in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” this summer. Apparently it’s been “submitted,” so we’ll see what Michael Bay has to say about that. Presumably, if it doesn’t blow his hair back or musically kick him in the testicles he’ll just discard like yesterday’s trash.
Bush says the song will be “featured on several of the [‘T2:Fallen’] toys,” (umm, how are songs featured on toys?) and that Activision will be releasing the song as a free download for Guitar Hero sometime in the next couple months (love the song, but free is probably the only way that things going to get picked up).
Best of luck, Stan Bush!
