Got a Tip?

Amanda Seyfried Joins Thriller ‘Gone’

With “Big Love” now behind her, Amanda Seyfried will be breaking out on the big screen in 2011. She’s got two high profile projects hitting theaters this year, Catherine Hardwicke‘s reworked fairy tale “Red Riding Hood” and Andrew Niccol‘s sci-fi thriller “Now.” And Seyfried has just added another project to her busy schedule.

THR reports that Seyfriend will star in “Gone” which has just been picked up by Summit. The corny sounding premise revolves around “a woman named Jill who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe her and Jill knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, Jill sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.” Maybe there is something more on the page because the logline here sounds a little low rent.

The film will be directed by the little known Heitor Dhalia (“Adrift“) and has a script by Allison Burnett (“Untraceable,” “Fame“) — those last two movies pretty much explain or skepticism about the film. But we’re willing to be proven wrong. Filming begins in April.
