We’ve said this before, and we’ll continue to say it until proven otherwise, but Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s biggest fan has to be Amazon Studios boss Jennifer Salke. And that love between Salke and her “Fleabag” creator has only intensified after the writer-producer-star’s recent Emmys domination.
Speaking at a recent panel (via Deadline), Salke not only complimented Waller-Bridge on the trophies, but she also continued her one-woman campaign to convince the world that there is potentially more “Fleabag” on the way. Even though, Waller-Bridge has said, in no uncertain terms, that Season 3 is never happening.
“I’ll have to really know that and see evidence of that before I really buy in,” Salke said about Waller-Bridge’s insistence that “Fleabag” is over. She continued by admitting “people will say I’m in denial.”
The exec added, “She probably thinking to herself like ‘geez do I have another story to tell because people really love this.’”
Even if there is no more “Fleabag,” Amazon has already secured Waller-Bridge for at least the next few years, with a massive exclusive deal reportedly worth $20 million per year. And regarding that deal, Salke complimented the writer-producer-actress and teased what’s to come.
“She’s a very prolific producer, but she’s not going to do a show just to do a show,” Salke said. “She was thinking about a movie, thinking about a show.”
Well, considering Waller-Bridge’s recent run on TV with “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve,” it’s obvious that all eyes will be on the next project. And if a new season of her Emmy-winning comedy is an option, you better believe Salke is going to jump all over it.
