As is clearly stated by the grieving mother, Deb, played by Sienna Miller in our exclusive clip from the film “American Woman,” a parent’s worst nightmare is having to deal with a missing child. Maybe it’s just pop culture and true crime docs, but it always seems like once a child goes missing, it almost never has a happy ending. And sadly, things aren’t looking up for Deb Callahan in “American Woman.”
Debuting at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, “American Woman” stars the aforementioned Miller as a mother having to figure out how to live life in the wake of her adult daughter going missing. Left to raise her young grandson, Deb has to deal with the struggles of her new status quo, as well as attempting to find the truth behind her daughter’s disappearance.
And in honor of the film finally hitting theaters later this month, we are thrilled to offer a look at Miller’s great performance in the film. As is commonplace in missing person’s dramas, the clip from “American Woman” shows us the scene where the family member has to address the public about the circumstances of the disappearance. And as you see in the clip, it’s obvious that Miller is firing on all cylinders in her performance in the film.
We saw “American Woman” at TIFF and complimented the actress’ performance, saying Miller “invests heart and soul into the performance, maybe even career-best work from the actress.”
“American Woman” also stars Christina Hendricks, Aaron Paul, Will Sasso, and Amy Madigan. The film is directed by Jake Scott.
“American Woman” arrives in select theaters on June 14.
