'And So It Goes…' For Michael Douglas & Diane Keaton

null“There’s a large demographic and need for these kind of films as evidenced by box office successes such as 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,' 'It’s Complicated' and 'Bucket List,' ” producer Mark Greisman said. And of course, where an underserved market requires easily digestible fare, said fare will be provided!

Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton, who have somehow each gone their entire careers without working togther, are set to star in "And So It Goes…" which seems to be the general attitude of the enterprise overall. Penned by Mark Andrus ("As Good As It Gets," "Life As A House," "Georgia Rule") it is one of those "kids change your life" movies for the retiree set. Douglas will play a "self absorbed and eccentric realtor" (which seem to be bad traits to have if you're trying to sell property, but whatever) whose life gets thrown for a loop when the daughter of his estranged son is left on his doorstep. But good thing Keaton is his neighbor and will help pitch in and teach him Life Lessons. Bleh.

P.J. Hogan ("Muriel's Wedding") is directing with production to kick off next spring. Hogan is coming off the recently completed "Mental," a comedy that reteams him with Toni Collette, and he certainly has "wacky" and sentimentally cloying down pat. Check out the trailer for that one below. [Deadline/The Film Stage]
