'Warrior' Star Andrew Koji To Play Storm Shadow In Upcoming 'GI Joe' Spin-Off 'Snake Eyes'

Much like Batman and Joker or Superman and Lex Luthor, you can’t really tell the best Snake Eyes story without Storm Shadow. And now, it appears that we know who will be stepping into the all-white ninja costume and fighting the titular character in the upcoming ‘GI Joe’ spin-off film, “Snake Eyes.”

According to The Wrap, actor Andrew Koji has been cast as the villainous Storm Shadow in “Snake Eyes.” Fans of the classic ‘GI Joe’ comic books and cartoon series will immediately recognize Storm Shadow as the evil ninja assassin working for Cobra that often found himself at odds with the heroic, and silent, Snake Eyes.

In the spin-off, “Snake Eyes” will explore the origins of the two characters, as they both attempt to rise in the ranks of the Arashikage ninja clan. Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes start as friends, but when tensions rise, the two become bitter enemies, leading to a legendary rivalry.

Koji is probably best known as the lead in the recent Cinemax martial arts action series “The Warrior.” The actor has also appeared in projects like “The Wrong Mans,” “The Innocents,” and “Luck,” as well as “American Gods.”

Recently, we learned that Henry Golding has been cast as the title character in “Snake Eyes.” The film is directed by Robert Schwentke, of “Red” and “RIPD” fame, and is written by the screenwriter of the 2017 “Beauty and the Beast” remake, Evan Spiliotopoulos. Production on the film is expected to begin soon, as “Snake Eyes” is currently dated for an October 16, 2020 release.
