Got a Tip?

‘Angel Has Fallen’ Trailer: Gerard Butler Has Saved The World Multiple Times But Might Finally Be Defeated By Concussions

Somehow, over the last several years, Gerard Butler has gone through a bit of a career change, dumping his former penchant for rom-coms for strictly action films. And not just films that feature the occasional explosion or gunfight. We’re talking full-on muscle-bound action films. And his latest is actually the end of a trilogy, “Angel Has Fallen.”

As you might expect from the title, Butler’s latest is the sequel to “London Has Fallen,” which itself was a sequel to “Olympus Has Fallen.” But instead of Butler’s character, United States Secret Service agent Mike Banning, saving the President and the world from terrorists, he’s now on the run, framed for the attack against the President…which was likely really caused by terrorists. Okay, so it’s very similar. But, wait! This time…he has…concussions!

That’s right, in the new trailer for “Angel Has Fallen,” we are given the newest wrinkle in the Butler action series. After two films worth of destruction, Banning is finally experiencing terrible migraines that have resulted from his various concussions. You can’t blame the guy, of course. Saving the world normally does require your head to get battered every now and then.

“Angel Has Fallen” is the third film in the series and features the third director, with Ric Roman Waugh taking over the helming duties. He’s probably best known for his previous film, “Shotcaller,” which was actually one of the more underrated thrillers of the last couple of years and could signal that ‘Angel’ is more than just a brain dead action sequel. We shall see.

Joining Butler in the cast for this threequel are Morgan Freeman, Piper Perabo, Danny Huston, and Tim Blake Nelson.

“Angel Has Fallen” explode into theaters on August 23.
