There is no denying the fact that Roman Polanski’s 1968 film “Rosemary’s Baby” is a classic, genre-defining piece of cinema. The franchise, comprising the original film, a television movie, and a negatively-received TV miniseries, is now getting its fourth installment in the form of a prequel — yes, a prequel. And after Paramount’s alarming success with “A Quiet Place,” “Apartment 7A” has high expectations to live up to, and the star-studded cast sure seems promising. Julia Garner, the acclaimed “Ozark” actress, stars in a leading role accompanied on screen by the Hollywood icon Dianne Wiest. Marli Siu, Jim Sturgess, Kevin McNally, and Andrew Buchan also star in supporting roles.

Here’s an official synopsis for “Apartment 7A,” courtesy of Paramount:
Ambitious young dancer Terry Gionoffrio dreams of fame and fortune in New York City, but after suffering a devastating injury, an older, wealthy couple welcomes her into their home in the luxury apartment building the Bramford. When a fellow resident and influential Broadway producer offers her another chance at fame, it seems that all her dreams are finally coming true. However, after an evening she can’t fully remember, disturbing circumstances soon have her second-guessing the sacrifices she’s willing to make for her career as she realizes that something evil is living not only in “Apartment 7A” but also in the Bramford itself.
A new trailer has been released, and it certainly appears to bring 1960s New York to life on the big screen.
The eagerly awaited psychological thriller has well-established “Relic” director Natalie Erika James behind the camera. If her past work is any indication, audiences are certainly in for a good scare this Fall. “Apartment 7A” is set to release on Paramount+ on September 27. Until then, catch the latest trailer below.
