‘Archer’ Season Ten Trailer: FX’s Comedy Goes To Infinity And Beyond In Season 11

For most television shows, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is something of a guiding principle; just look at long-running shows like “The Simpsons” or “The Big Bang Theory,” which have managed to mine years of entertainment from very simple premises. That’s why it’s refreshing to see a show like “Archer,” which has managed to reinvent itself on a regular season-by-season basis.

Since the show’s fifth season (which saw the crew of agents move to Miami as a Vice squad), ‘Archer’ has shifted to an anthological format, with seasons focusing on a detective agency, a noir-inspired tale, and an Indiana Jones-esque adventure. Now, creator Adam Reed and co. have shifted the show’s premise once again, this time towards the stars. Now, the show’s characters are slotted into “Alien”-type roles, tackling classic sci-fi tropes and delivering absurdist humor along the way. Things have contined to get wacky since then.

In season 11 of FXX‘s comedy Archer, “Sterling Archer“ is ready to return to the spy world after a three-year coma. While many things changed during his absence, Archer is confident it will take just a little time for him to reset things back to the old ways. The problem: does the rest of the team want that? The others may not be ready for his return to throw a wrench in their well-oiled machine.

The show’s writing team have proved their pop-culture-knowledge chops time and again, so expect the show’s trademark twisting of genre conventions to great comedic effect. Reed has announced that this season will most likely be the show’s last, so it’s not hard to assume that such an irreverent show will go out with a bang.

Series stars H Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Lucky Yates, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, and Amber Nash are all set to reprise their roles, and it’s a safe bet that this season will see the same level of quality guest actors as previous ones.

Season 11 of “Archer” premieres September 16 on FXX. Watch the official trailer below.
