‘Arthur The King’ Trailer: Mark Wahlberg Stars In An Inspirational Film About An Adventure Racer & His Dog

It wasn’t that long ago that Mark Wahlberg was starring in all sorts of balls-to-the-wall action films and hard-hitting dramas. But lately, it appears the actor really only wants to star in comedies or inspirational films. “Arthur the King” falls into that latter category.

As seen in the new trailer, “Arthur the King” tells the true story of a pro adventure racer (that’s a thing, apparently) who is attempting an endurance race 435 miles in 10 days. And along the way, he comes across a stray dog he names Arthur. Together, Arthur, the racer, and his teammates rally around their dog as they attempt to win.

The film stars Wahlberg alongside folks such as Simu Liu, Juliet Rylance, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ali Suliman, Bear Grylls, and Paul Guilfoyle. “Arthur the King” is directed by Simon Cellan Jones, a filmmaker with two new films on the horizon. In addition to this one, he also has “The Family Plan,” which again stars Wahlberg. It would appear Jones and Wahlberg have developed a bit of a sustained working relationship.

“Arthur the King” debuts in theaters on March 22, 2024. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Over the course of ten days and 435 miles, an unbreakable bond is forged between pro adventure racer Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg) and a scrappy street dog companion dubbed Arthur. Based on an incredible true story, ARTHUR THE KING follows Light, desperate for one last chance to win, as he convinces a sponsor to back him and a team of athletes (Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Suliman) for the Adventure Racing World Championship in the Dominican Republic. As the team is pushed to their outer limits of endurance in the race, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty and friendship truly mean.
